about f.e.r.a.l
F.E.R.A.L was created to give children something many are missing in today’s world. Real connection. Connection to nature, to community, to other people, and to themselves.
Based on Sydney’s Northern Beaches, F.E.R.A.L runs small-group school holiday programs designed to help children build confidence, resilience, kindness and curiosity through outdoor adventure, creativity and meaningful community experiences. From nature exploration and wildlife discovery to volunteering, beach clean-ups and connecting with elderly residents, every activity is designed to help children learn through doing.
At the heart of F.E.R.A.L is the belief that some of life’s most important lessons aren’t learnt through screens or classrooms, but through experience. Getting muddy, trying new things, helping others, building friendships and developing a deeper understanding of the world around us.
F.E.R.A.L was founded by Lucie Jansen after more than 20 years in the media and marketing industry, including over a decade leading teams and developing people. Through both her professional leadership experience and her own journey as a parent, Lucie became increasingly passionate about creating experiences that help children grow not just academically, but emotionally and socially too.
Inspired by the impact that nature, community and purpose can have on wellbeing and happiness, F.E.R.A.L was built to create the kind of childhood experiences that stay with children long after the holidays end, the kind that build resilient, compassionate and capable young people.
